“Growing up, I didn’t always have access to the academic resources I needed, so being part of an organization that removes those barriers is incredibly meaningful to me. Volunteering here feels like helping create the support system I wish more students had.”

Founded in 2025, The Alberta Helpers is a volunteer-run, youth-led tutoring program that offers free online academic support and English language learning to students from elementary through to high school. We are the Alberta chapter of YouthInspirED Foundation, which helps young people establish similar programs across Canada.
02
The Alberta Helpers supports K-12 students across the province who wish to receive supplementary academic support in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. Our services are free, virtual, and open to students with a wide range of learning needs and goals.
03
We support a wide range of subjects including Math, English, French, Science, Social Studies, and English as an Additional Language (EAL). A full list of subject offerings are available under the age group in which you wish to register on our website. You can choose the subject that best fits your academic needs when you book your session.

Sessions are one-to-one, virtual, and student-centered. No single structure can be defined as sessions are tailored to the unique needs of learners. However, during sessions tutors focus on understanding where the learner is at, reinforcing key concepts, and building skills and confidence, not just completing homework.
08
Accessibility is a core value of The Alberta Helpers and YouthInspirED. If you require personalized assistance, please contact us and we will be happy to guide you to a tutor who is best suited to support your learning needs.
09
Tutors are trained volunteers who have completed an interview process, background checks, and required training through YouthInspirED. Many are post-secondary students or recent graduates and even some high school students with strong academic backgrounds and a passion for supporting learners.
